Jacob Coffing, Sr. was born about 1665 in England. He was a weaver. On June 23, 1686 Jacob arrived in Pennsylvania on the ship Desire from Plymouth England as James Shattock's servant. He married Sarah Howard. Jacob Coffing, Jr. (1700), In 1693 Jacob was taxed 6 shillings in Philadelphia County. On October 3, 1696 there was a deed from Robert Turner to Jacob Coffin, weaver in Philadelphia County. In 1698 he was listed as a clothier in Philadelphia County. 18 Feb 1698 deed from John Colley in Philadelphia County 6 Jun 1698 deed from Samuel Atkins in Philadelphia County 11 Oct 1700 witnessed John Bolt's will inPhiladelphia County 2 Sep 1701 jury in Philadelphia County 1701 Oct. 20. Do. Edward Smout, yeoman, to Jacob Coffing, clothier, both of Philadelphia, for a plantation of 500 acres in Gloucester Co., W. J., on the South side of the South branch of Gloucester River, N. W. John and Samuel Dennis, S. E. Thomas Bull. 39 I 31 Aug 1703 deed to C. Cash in Philadelphia County
